The banked reset that did not apply, and the make-good that followed

Banked resets are the part of this system that behaves least like weather and most like a currency, which means they can also fail like a currency. On the Wednesday after Astra week, Tibo reported a morning kerfuffle: some banked resets were not fully applying when people spent them in ChatGPT Work and Codex.
The fix is the interesting half. Rather than asking people to prove what they lost, the desk credited another banked reset to everyone who used one in the affected time window and sent an apology email. That is a make-good, not a flush, and it belongs in the banked column of the ledger.
Keep it next to 29 June, the other card where a bug was paid off in banked grants rather than a zeroed meter. The house has now done this twice. Twice is a habit, not a policy — nothing here promises it happens a third time.
What it means
- The failure mode is specific and worth memorising: the grant existed, you spent it, and it did not fully apply. That is not the same as never receiving one.
- The remedy is another banked reset for everyone who redeemed inside the window, and an email. If you got that email, you are in the affected set.
