Claude’s reset voice has always meant a flush. Someone at Anthropic says the limits are reset, and the meters zero. With Opus 5.5 the house tried the other shape for the first time. The last post in @claudeai’s launch thread, at 16:31 UTC on September 22, offers subscription users a reset they can save and use whenever they choose.
The first post in the thread is about the model: Fable 5.1-level performance at 40% less than Opus 5. The reset comes three posts later, after ‘One more thing’, next to a five-hour limit increase on Pro, Max and Team. Thirteen minutes later @ClaudeDevs put numbers on it for Claude Code: five-hour session limits up 20% today, Opus 5.5 going 25% further within limits because it is cheaper, and a reset to use anytime for Pro, Max and Team.
Codex has run banked resets for months, including the September 9 make-good when some failed to apply. This is the first time Claude has offered one. The tracker counts this banked grant as a Claude reset: the dashboard clock starts on September 22. Its card still labels it banked, because redemption is optional. The announcement is verified. A newly reviewed September 22 ClaudeDevs reply explicitly reports the banked grant available for Pro, Max and Team in Settings → Usage, redeemable until October 22. This verifies provider-reported availability of the existing grant, not that every user has redeemed it. No duplicate reset is added.
What it means
- This is a banked reset, not a flush. Your meters did not zero at 16:31 UTC. You hold one reset and spend it when you want to, and this tracker counts it as a Claude reset.
- @ClaudeDevs gives the Claude Code scope: Pro, Max and Team users get a reset to use anytime. Enterprise is not named.
- Lydia Hallie’s advice: use up what you have left before you spend it. A reset on a half-full meter wastes the unused half.
- Update, September 26: a provider reply posted September 22 explicitly says the reset is available in Settings → Usage and can be applied until October 22. Exact cutoff time and timezone are unstated.
